The ideas for these images flow out of my head as automatic drawings. They are symbolic of what I am thinking and experiencing.The challange is that after the image has appeared magically on paper, to represent it as a painting , a "finished product" and at the same time trying to hold the values of the style without straying into a form a realism. The shapes are easy to work with, I just use an opaque projector to enlarge it. The problem is the color, how do you color a dream. And that is what my sketches are, they are dreams on paper, dreams that have been smuggled out of my mind and made real. It is a constant struggle, and I will get better at it with time. But you will see in all my painitings where realism is invading and tainting the original symbolism.
